Your Attention Is Required
We are terrified. The American people are drowning in a sea of fear and uncertainty, barely two weeks into a presidency that feels hopelessly out of control. We write to you, the leaders of the Democratic National Committee, the Democrats in Congress, and the Senate, pleading for help. We are desperate for leadership.
Donald Trump’s actions are not merely reckless; they are unconstitutional and deeply alarming. His hateful rhetoric, once a campaign tactic, is now the bedrock of his administration, fueling a climate of fear and division. His policies regarding migrants are inhumane and defy basic human decency. The dismantling of vital government agencies, like USAID, proceeds at an alarming pace, leaving us vulnerable and exposed.
But the situation is far worse than merely chaotic. We’re witnessing a blatant power grab, a hijacking of our government in plain sight. Elon Musk, an unelected individual with no legitimate authority, has, through his purported “Department of Government Efficiency,” seized control of the Treasury Department—a blatant act of usurpation. The implications are staggering: illegal access to sensitive personal information, including Social Security numbers and payment information, is underway. Social Security checks are at risk. Career employees are locked out, forced into retirement against their will. This is not a glitch; it’s a hostile takeover.
Trump’s unilateral imposition of tariffs on China, Mexico, and Canada, without so much as a nod to Congressional authorization, further exacerbates the crisis. The economic consequences are already foreseeable: a significant increase in the cost of food, gas, and other essential goods, placing an undue burden on American families who are already struggling to make ends meet. The potential for a trade war and economic instability is real, and the consequences could be catastrophic.
We are not merely expressing concerns; we are sounding the alarm. This is not a game; this is our democracy under assault. The systematic erosion of checks and balances continues, leaving us feeling hopeless and abandoned. We need you, the DNC, the Democrats in the Congress and Senate, to act decisively and immediately. Right now.
We implore you:
Sue the government. Blue States, Challenge these unconstitutional actions in every court available.
Use every available procedural tool. Employ Senate and House rules to bring this administration to a grinding halt, delaying and obstructing its dangerous and unlawful agenda.
Lead us. We are looking to you for leadership, for strength, and for the courage to defend our democracy. Show us you will fight to protect our institutions, our rights, and our future.
We are mortified, but we are not surrendering. We need your help now before it is too late. Do something.
