Kamala 2028 or DOJ 2.0? A Truth-Telling Conversation Between Sisters
If they won’t give her the presidency, give her the power to prosecute.
The other night, I had one of those late-night, deep conversations with my sister… the kind that cuts through political noise and forces you to confront the country we’re really living in.
She’s a political scientist. I’m a blogger/citizen journalist and a truth-teller. We both want America to survive until 2028. But when we started talking about who should run for president, we didn’t land in the same place. What came out of it, though, might just be the most honest conversation I’ve had all year.
Her take: America will choose a white man to “win it back”
My sister thinks Gavin Newsom is the Democrats’ best shot in 2028. Why? Because he’s a polished white man who knows how to perform leadership in a way America still clings to—especially when things feel like they’re falling apart. In her words, “We’re desperate to get back into the White House and reclaim the House and Senate. People are going to default to safety, and safety still means white and male in this country.”
Is she wrong? No. She’s reading the electorate with brutal accuracy. America has never elected a woman president. Not Hillary Clinton. Not Kamala Harris. Not anyone. We claim to want change, but when the pressure is on, this country retreats to patriarchy like it’s a warm blanket.
My take: Kamala should run—and win
Kamala Harris has walked through fire for this country. She’s held the line through insurrection, attacks on reproductive freedom, voter suppression, climate catastrophe, and more. She’s been a loyal Vice President, a fierce defender of democracy, and a strategic, focused leader in a chaotic time.
But instead of receiving full-throated support, she’s been sidelined, second-guessed, and sabotaged—often by her own party.
If this country had any damn sense, Kamala would be the frontrunner for 2028. But we all know what stands in her way. Misogyny. Racism. The same forces that built this country and are now trying to burn it down.
But here’s where things got
really
interesting…
My sister said something that stopped me in my tracks:
“If Gavin Newsom becomes president, he should appoint Kamala Harris as Attorney General. She would have the power to prosecute Donald Trump and every corrupt official in his administration—including rogue ICE agents. She would hold Elon Musk accountable for election interference. She knows how to investigate, how to indict, how to win.”
And you know what? She’s right.
Kamala Harris as the US Attorney General would be Trump’s worst nightmare. The right-wing noise machine could never outmaneuver her legal brilliance. And while they’d scream “witch hunt,” she’d be stacking evidence and delivering justice. Quietly. Strategically. Relentlessly.
What we’re really talking about is power
The White House and the Department of Justice are both seats of power but they serve different ends. The president sets the vision. The Attorney General delivers consequences.
If this country refuses to give Kamala Harris the Oval Office, then she deserves something else: the keys to the justice system. Not as a consolation prize, but as a reckoning.
Because somebody has to prosecute the architects of cruelty.
Somebody has to restore faith in the law.
Somebody has to make the powerful afraid to break it again.
Final word
I still believe Kamala Harris should be president. But if 2028 forces another route, then I want her running the Department of Justice like the prosecutor she is—smart, fearless, and surgical.
Because if we’re going to save this democracy, someone’s got to clean house.
And if Kamala Harris is the one holding the broom? Baby, I’m good with that.

Together, we tell the truth. Loudly.
I have been wondering with everybody else who will end up on the ticket, praying that there is a ticket, in 2028. And even though I hate it, I think your sis is right about Gavin and friends. They will put up the most winnable (in their eyes) candidate. But I absolutely love the idea of Kamala as the AG. Like I got a little fire in my belly at the mention and possibility of that. She would be an unstoppable force with the authority to hold every single person accountable. Even those who believe themselves untouchable. Especially them. I am keeping a mental list of all the people actively fighting for us in WA. And those being eerily silent. If I had a political version of fantasy football going on, I would be seriously liking my picks!
