Hmmm….
NBC had an interesting article about former President Biden's desire to return to politics. From what I could gather, there’s been a lot of hand-wringing in the media about Biden wanting to help fundraise for the Democratic Party now that 2024 is behind us. Some party insiders and commentators are acting like his offer is an SNL skit—like it’s some kind of joke that he still wants to be involved. But here’s the thing: our polling numbers are at an all-time low, and we need all the help we can get.
Who decides if Biden should play a role in rebuilding the party? Not the media, not a handful of disgruntled staffers—the voters. If Democrats want to move on from Biden, that’s up to them. But shutting him out before we’ve even had the conversation is shortsighted.
The truth is, the party is in rough shape, and we can’t afford to be picky about who’s willing to help. Biden may not be the future, but if he can bring in money and rally voters, why turn that down? We should be focusing on how to strengthen our movement, not letting media narratives dictate who gets to be part of the solution.
At the end of the day, it’s up to us—the people—to decide what’s best for our party, not a bunch of commentators looking for the next headline.
