Medvedev Threatens Nukes for Iran. President Trump Responds. And the Media Just Woke Up.
Told ya!
Yesterday, we at FAFO Newscast asked our readers why the Medvedev nuclear threat wasn’t covered by mainstream media. Well, it was ignored—until President Donald Trump posted about it 24 hours later.
Former Russian President and current Security Council deputy Dmitry Medvedev posted a brazen threat on Telegram:
“A number of countries are ready to directly supply Iran with their own nuclear warheads.”
Let’s be crystal clear: even hinting that nuclear warheads are ready to be supplied to Iran is an escalation of global proportions. It should have led the news cycle. It didn’t.
Instead, corporate media outlets collectively shrugged—until President Donald Trump finally acknowledged the threat in a Truth Social rant Monday morning.
🗣️ Trump Reacts, Media Finally Follows
On June 23, Trump posted:
“Did I hear Former President Medvedev… casually throwing around the ‘N word’ (Nuclear!), and saying that he and other Countries would supply Nuclear Warheads to Iran? … I guess that’s why Putin’s ‘THE BOSS.’”
He then bizarrely bragged about U.S. submarines armed with “the most powerful and lethal weapons ever built,” flexing his own nuclear arsenal as a counter-threat.
Now, suddenly, the media cares.
Mainstream media THAT barely touched Medvedev’s statement all weekend—jumped to cover the story. Why? Because the media’s cash cow, President Donald Trump mentioned it.
The Press Failed. Again.
Once again, independent media had to do the job first.
All independent media, including FAFO Newscast reported this story yesterday—when it mattered. When it was raw. When the international implications were urgent and underreported.
Independent media flagged Medvedev’s rhetoric as dangerous and demanded public accountability from journalists, the Pentagon, and U.S. intelligence. We all made it clear: even unverified nuclear threats must be taken seriously.
But the mainstream media? They couldn’t be bothered. Until today.
This is more than just press laziness. This is a crisis of editorial courage.
What’s At Stake
Let’s recap what Medvedev claimed—and what we now know:
Medvedev’s Telegram Post (June 22):
“A number of countries are ready to directly supply Iran with their own nuclear warheads.”
(Jerusalem Post, New York Post)Putin’s Statement (June 21):
Denied that Iran is pursuing nukes, said Russia supports “peaceful nuclear energy,” and wants to mediate.
(Newsweek)Trump’s Reaction (June 23):
Mocked Medvedev’s language, praised Putin, and reminded the world of U.S. nuclear submarines.
(Newsweek)
We now have:
A former Russian president threatening nuclear warhead transfers.
A current Russian president playing diplomatic denial.
A current U.S. president broadcasting retaliatory nuclear force.
And a corporate media machine that sat on its hands until the story went viral.
What Happens Next?
Medvedev’s rhetoric remains unverified. But that doesn’t mean it’s meaningless. It may be strategic bluffing. It may be groundwork for a shift in the regional balance of power. Or it may be true—and the world is just now catching up.
We will be watching:
Whether any countries step forward to confirm or deny involvement.
How the Trump administration, Pentagon, and NATO respond.
Whether the IAEA issues a new public statement.
And whether the press holds Putin or Medvedev accountable for their contradictory claims.
Final Word
Mainstream media didn’t fail because they lacked access. They failed because they lacked urgency—and guts. Once again, independent journalists were first on the scene, doing the work legacy newsrooms won’t.
At FAFO Newscast, we’re not interested in waiting for permission to sound the alarm. We bring you the truth in real time—even if it makes the powerful uncomfortable.
