“Power concedes nothing without a demand. It never did and it never will.”
— Frederick Douglass
This weekend, the streets across America pulsed with a righteous roar: Hands Off—our democracy, our dignity, our people. From coast to coast, protesters marched against Donald Trump, Elon Musk, and the creeping tide of fascism they’re riding in on.
And I just want to say, as plainly and powerfully as I can:
I am so damn proud of every single one of you who showed up.
Y’all moved mountains.
What moved me most wasn’t just the size of the protests. It was the spirit. I saw older people—many of them veterans, elders who’ve lived through Jim Crow, Watergate, Vietnam, Reaganomics—standing shoulder-to-shoulder with Gen Z activists. That was out of this world. That’s legacy. That’s love.

And then there was Senator Cory Booker. After delivering a 25-hour floor speech in Congress demanding accountability and defending democracy, he still showed up in person at the protests. He stood tall and declared:
“This is a moment for America.”
He’s right.
These protests weren’t just about Trump or Musk. They were a moment of clarity. A line drawn in the sand. A declaration that we—the people—are paying attention, and we’re not going down without a fight.
To the white brothers and sisters who showed up: I see you. I thank you. So many Black folks couldn’t be there—not because we didn’t care, but because we knew what it could cost us. We’ve seen what happens when our bodies flood the streets. The tear gas. The batons. The kettling. The media smear campaigns. The silence when we are hurt.
We are exhausted. Soul tired.
But you didn’t forget us. You held it down!
You showed the world what true solidarity looks like—not just standing with us, but sometimes standing for us, when it’s too dangerous for us to stand in the crosshairs.
This was a moment for America. And you made sure history will remember it.
Now let’s keep the pressure on.
The protest doesn’t end when the streets empty.
It continues:
• At the ballot box
• In our workplaces and schools
• In your neighborhoods and homes
• On social media and in the halls of power
• Through independent media—like this one.
Call out injustice. Share resources. Support organizers. Hold elected officials accountable. Vote like your freedom depends on it—because it does.
This is not the end. It’s the beginning of the next chapter.
In love and resistance,
